(More customer reviews)Cute idea that just doesn't work. Moon Sand creations crumble at just a light touch due to the fact that creating with Moon Sand is just like creating with regular beach sand. To make great sand sculptures, the sand cannot be too fine, too damp, or too dry. Even when I gingerly tried to place the molded ice cream sand on top of the molded cone sand, disaster would strike and either one or the other or both would crumble enough to create a need for structual or aesthetic repair. Plus, there is no way to "adhere" the molded ice cream to the molded cone due to the above, so there is the possibility that the ice cream will just fall off the cone due to a kid not paying attention. Maybe Spin Master will experiment with the size of the sand grains and the moisture ratio in order to create an improved Moon Sand. Two pros: the molds are sturdy and Moon Sand is still fun for free play/just foolin' around with.
Addenda two days later:

I looked at the directions for Moon Sand after I wrote the above, thinking that I might have missed something about this stuff (how hard can it be to use, right?). The directions do indeed state that Moon Sand should be squished and squashed before use in order to expand and soften the sand. This method did seem to somewhat work- broad sand sculptures like the ice cream and cone moldings did hold up better, although fine tips and edges still did crumble. Ditto for the molded banana...it broke in some way every time. The cherry molding was O.K.; the tip fell off if it was handled too much- no biggie. Also want to add here that if you are the type of person that is anti-mess, do not buy this stuff. This stuff makes Play-doh "messes" amateur in comparison. I have added one overall star to rating because product use improved during my experiment.
Addenda on 2/22/11: Upped the overall stars by one due to my tot's enjoyment...I have to be fair. After all, Moon Sand was purchased for her, not for me. Cleanup is a breeze when product is used outside.
