(More customer reviews)When I tell someone that I build model ships, invariably they say "Oh, that requires a lot of patience!". Well, this is a kit that takes more patience than even most ship models - and it's also one of the most rewarding, the galley is exquisite. It's also not as difficult to build as most comparably sized and detailed kits, such as a Victory or Wasa kit.
Notes:
- The planking doesn't have a huge curve, but it is moderate, especially at the back. It probably presents the biggest challenge in building the ship.
- There are 59 sets of everything on the ship - seats, oars, etc. So you repeat an awful lot of operations 59 to 236 times. Patience required.
- The sails and pennants are pre-sewn, so that saves a lot of time, and if you're like me, they look 1000 percent better than if I'd done them myself.
- The finished product is wider than you might expect.
This is a great kit for an adult who likes building ships, and a beautiful galley when you're done. Highly recommended if you're the type who likes building ships.
